In 1889 a new house was erected in the corner Götgatan / Högbergsgatan

after drawings by architect Johan Laurentz.

The Fenix pharmacy got its premises on Götgatan,

at the far right of the property.

The pharmacy's emblem became a sculpture showing the bird Fenix,

which still remains today.

Kapellgränd

During the Middle Ages, one of Stockholm's gallows slopes

and execution sites was located here.

During the 1400s, this gallows hill gained a more official religious status

as Stockholm's calvary mountain.

At Kapellgränd 8, a small remnant of Södermalm's 18th-century building remains

in the form of two red-painted log houses that once were

the mill house for the mill Dundercrantz.

Once upon a time, the cottage also functioned as a

residence for the town's executioner

who had his business on the neighboring Pelarbacken.

The mosque was inaugurated in 2000

and is run by the Islamic Association in Stockholm.

The original building, which today constitutes the mosque,

was designed by architect Ferdinand Boberg

and was originally the Katarina station for Stockholm's electricity plant.
